Laser treatment is safe and gentle. The vast majority of patients resume daily activities right after their sessions.
Our Board Certified Laser Physicians offer state-of-the-art laser treatment for Rosacea (facial redness and veins). The doctors personally perform over a thousand treatments every year, using the VBeam laser, the gold standard of treatment, found in major University Hospitals world-wide. (for information on VBeam versus IPL “photo facials“, see below)
This very common skin condition effects 5% of individuals. It causes 'rosy cheeks' and red patches or small blood vessels on the face. Patients often complain of an embarrassing 'sunburnt' look. Rosacea is made worse by sun, heat/cold, and exercise; the face gets red, and stays red. Fortunately, there is medical laser treatment for this condition, but it is very important to treat it early. The doctor will discuss the laser treatment of Rosacea with you at your consultation, and assess whether you are a candidate for therapy. The charge for the consultation is $50, which goes towards your treatment.
Please note that we are a medical laser clinic, specializing in the laser treatment of Rosacea. OHIP does not cover the consultation for laser treatment of Rosacea, nor the treatment itself. The charge for the consultation is $50, which goes towards your treatment.
Laser versus Intense Pulsed Light (IPL, Photofacials)
- The VBeam Laser (Pulsed-Dye) has been used for over 20 years. It was developed to treat the most severe vascular birthmarks, like port-wine stains. Treating Rosacea, or facial redness and veins is, of course, much less difficult than dark birthmarks.
- Many clinics or spas offer Intense Pulse Light or Photo Facials to treat Rosacea. We have found the laser more cost effective for our patients.
- Often Photofacial packages involve “full-face” treatment, even if your Rosacea is localized to one or two areas. Typically performed by a nurse or esthetician, photofacial packages can cost $3000 or more.
- Our doctors personally perform your laser treatments, and will tailor the session to meet your needs, usually at far less cost than IPL Photofacial packages.
It is extremely important for Rosacea sufferers to identify and reduce or eliminate the triggers that make their disease worse. But doing this, and by following a regular maintenance program with topical medication or laser therapy, the disease can be very effectively controlled.
Some Rosacea Triggers Include:
- Spicy Food
- Cold Weather
- High Humidity
- Some Medicines
